The not-so-empty canvas

Yesterday was a Snow Day. Stayed inside all day looking at the juncos. I did a quick practice painting, for the large canvas that is so intimidating. The practice is a copy/interpretation of a landscape from an artist I saw at Wickford last summer. Azure sky, golden fields, distant line of trees.... all those things we can't see because they are buried under a foot of fresh snow.

Just finished a book called "The Last Secret of the Temple." Kind of a Dan Brown type thriller, follows a Great Secret from the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D. to the present day. I'll give it 4 stars. Jenny, I'll send it your way. You can send it to SC. I need a new book now. Guess I'll redeem that B+N gift card!

A January without Wings

The Patriots are NOT in the playoffs, so there are no buffalo wings on Sunday afternoons. No raucous noisy gatherings around the big screen. Go Titans and bring on spring training.

We await the first flakes of yet another snowstorm. Should be 10 inches on the ground by tomorrow mid day. It's only January 10 and we have had Enough Already. It's gray gray gray out there, and the only color in the yard is Fla and Mingo, and they're faded. Wow, I'm getting depressed reading this!

Returning from the Dark Side... Christmas was wonderful, with a house full of family and too much good food. We had 21 for dinner and everyone had a fine time. New Year's Eve was quiet, with a storm dumping 9 inches of snow and slush on us. Everyone is healthy and relatively happy.
