Tender, flaky pie crust... the Holy Grail. The judges tomorrow will be discerning, with the collective apple pie eating experience of a hundred years or more. A tough audience. let's hope the crust isn't.
The turkey hopefully is thawed. it's a 22-lb monster, an unwanted raffle prize Bob got from a golf buddy. The stuffing is made, the cranberry sauce is too. The house is dirty, but hey, the food looks good.

Fall Cleaning
Note to self on the 50,000-mile check up diagnostic test: next time, start earlier.
Today is warm but cloudy , breezy and very damp. The leaves are dropping rapidly with fat plopping sounds in the woods. The lawns and road sides are covered with a carpet of wet leaves. The colors are all dark brown, rust and yellow. We've had a spectacular foliage season, so no complaints about weak color, too brief, yadda yadda. The color has lingered and so have the warm temperatures.

Sea Change
November enters gently - 60 degrees and partly sunny. If only this was as bad as winter got. Bob caught fish this morning out at the center wall at Galilee, and tonite it's lobsta, steamahs, and stuffies. We'll throw some bass in the pot, too.Tomorrow we'll go walk through the orchard and have a picnic with our Christmas Tree. I may buy some apples and make a pie.
Here's a pic of a monsta lobsta we had last year....

The Grace of God
Reminded today of how blessed we are to have a home and food and clean clothes. We shared food and clothing with those in need today downtown. I want to remember Sophia, a woman of 65 or so, and Gary, and Juan and others we met today and pray for their safety and that they remember the God who created them has not forgotten them, they need only to seek him.
Cool, breezy today and the colors are fading. leaves starting to fall, the epitome of autumn.
Probably a new record for earliest ever: Bob put the heat on!!!

Go Sox!
Red Sox Nation is happy again - I didn't stay up. I admit, I threw in the towel at 11pm at 7-0. I shoulda known better.... they couldn't be THAT bad forever. "Bout time those bats woke up!

Genesis
Wow, took me long enough. My first blog. Don't look here for wisdom or deep musings, but Lord willing, once in awhile I'll have something helpful to share. The autumn color is just about peaking. The fragile, transient beauty is breathtaking. I try to slow down and drink it in when I drive around the curve of my street and see the colors reflected in the pond (without crashing the car, Joanna...!) I took dozens of photos in the woods last weekend, for a painting? or a photo wall? I did a quick small painting as a study for a possible large painting. I was pretty happy with it, playing with a loose, impressionist style. Maybe I'll post some of these attempts here...
I saw a license plate today: Rev 21. Optimist? or warning....?
til next time...
